Details from the funder
Owners age 18 or older of independent businesses with no more than 20 full-time-equivalent employees and one permanent brick-and-mortar location in a US state or Washington, DC. The business must have existed by January 1, 2024 and occupied that location by January 1, 2025; applicants must have owned it since at least January 1, 2025. Franchises, nonprofits, online-only, home-based, mobile and shared-space businesses are excluded. Main Street membership is not required.

Cash grants of $20,000 support small-business growth, innovation and local community impact. This is the Amex Shop Small program administered by Main Street America, with its own application and eligibility rules.
