North Carolina Rural Building Reuse Grants
Who can apply
- Local governments sponsoring business projects
Business projects sponsored by local governments in Tier 1 or Tier 2 counties, or qualifying rural tracts in Tier 3 counties. Improvements must create full-time private-sector jobs. Existing-business expansions must meet occupancy, wage and health-benefit requirements.
About this grant
State grants help renovate vacant buildings or expand existing business premises. Awards cannot exceed half of eligible construction/renovation costs and require a dollar-for-dollar cash match. The local government receives the grant; job commitments carry repayment provisions if unmet.
