Technology-based small businesses in North Carolina. Incentive Funds: NC firms preparing a federal Phase I SBIR/STTR proposal. Matching Funds: NC firms that have already won a federal Phase I SBIR/STTR award; recipients in areas severely hit by Hurricane Helene can get an extra $25,000.
About this grant
North Carolina's state complement to the federal SBIR/STTR programs. Incentive grants reimburse part of the cost of preparing a Phase I SBIR/STTR proposal ($210,000 available in FY 2027), and Matching grants add state funds to companies that won a Phase I award ($1,920,000 available). Apply through the program's online portal after reading the FY 2027 solicitations.
